Software LG
forgot to ship.

Open-source apps and POSIX shell tools for rooted LG webOS TVs. Tested under busybox, safe to install, clean to remove.

root@lgtv: ~ · ssh
~/repos/webos

Three tools. One rooted TV.

An IPTV player that feels like cable, a faster wired connection, and a real Linux toolbox. Each one checks your TV first and undoes itself cleanly.

Built like it's your TV.

Because it is. Every project follows the same rules.

01

Look before you touch

Each tool reads your model, webOS version, kernel and free space first, and says what it will do before it does it.

02

Undo is a command

One file in the Homebrew Channel's boot folder, a clean uninstall, and a reboot that always starts clean.

03

Tested without a TV

Fake /sys, fake ip, fake opkg. CI runs every suite under busybox, dash and bash.

04

No accounts, no tracking

Open source and MIT licensed. Bring your own playlist. Nothing phones home except an opt-out anonymous install count in TiviBro.

05

Made for real people

Plain-language READMEs, doctor and report commands, and bug reports you can file from your couch.

before you start

You need a rooted TV.

Everything here runs on LG TVs with the webOS Homebrew Channel. Check whether your firmware can be rooted at cani.rootmy.tv, then turn on SSH in the Homebrew Channel's settings. TiviBro also installs in Developer Mode, no root needed.

Root the TV

Follow webosbrew.org/rooting for your firmware.

SSH in as root

$ ssh root@TV_IP
